Hello, my name is Christy R. Rago. I have the privilege of being the Zach White Elementary School Counselor.
I am a native El Pasoan and attended Houston Elementary and Austin High School in E.P.I.S.D. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Education degree in 1986 at UTEP. Prior to my current position as a counselor, I enjoyed teaching science, math and language arts in grades 6th, 7th and 8th. I also taught self-esteem and guidance lessons to grades PK - 8th as an At-Risk Coordinator, and taught Pre-K. As a teacher I was always drawn to the counseling field. I earned my Master of Arts in Counseling with an emphasis in Mental Health Counseling from Webster University in 2006. I am also a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and have my Texas School Counselor Certificate. I love being the counselor at Zach White Elementary! My day is filled with children which adds so much to my life! When I'm not at work I love spending time with my family - husband, daughter, son, extended family and dogs! I also enjoy going to the movies, reading and attending my book club nights, water sports, snow skiing and traveling. My life is good!!
I provide Guidance Lessons throughout the school year in regards to Positive Self-Esteem, Anti-Bullying, Creating a compassionate/caring school climate, Goal Setting, Making Positive Choices and the W.H.O. Program (We Help Ourselves) and many other related themes.
Individual/Group Counseling and Conflict Mediation is also available to provide a healthy, safe school environment.
